Key Benefits of Our Escalator

A Little History… (and why we, and likely you, will NOT choose the cheaper route)… During our original design effort, it was recommended to us that in order to keep the unit’s price down, we should “design a single, flexible unit” that could be made to “perform all three tests” by adding or removing kit pieces to the main unit:

Comb Impact, Vertical Lift, and, Skirt Deflection.

The Drawback of a Flexible/Single Unit Design… (Like an “Erector Set”) Upon removal from the carrying case the unit would need to be:

1. Configured for the first test. At the end of the first test

2. Reconfigured for the second test. At the end of the second test

3. Reconfigured for the last test. At the end of the third test

4. Disassembled to fit back into the carrying case. (Again, Like the erector set) BUT WAIT!… THIS ESCALATOR HAS TWO ENDS!… so all that effort will need to be Repeated (1, 2, 3, 4 above) at the OTHER END of the same escalator! (for every escalator tested)

SUMMARY: (The HIDDEN, but REAL cost) Handling the single unit test set to change its configuration or put it away is simply… TIME LOST! One - Two hours LABOR at a TWO MECHANIC RATE (LOSS from RECONFIGURATION ONLY) is EXCESSIVE!

We Decided to Go a Different Route:

We use three DEDICATED test devices, Each unit IS PRE-CONFIGURED for its SPECIFIC TEST.

This frees the mechanic to switch directly to/from any test, WITHOUT CONFIGURATION DELAYS. DELAYS which ARE the hidden cost of the “less expensive” machines…

Simply remove the pre-configured test unit from the carrying case.

“PLACE” the unit on the escalator and adjust it to the escalator.

“MEASURE” the force required, Return it directly back to the case for storage!
